About me

Kaywansalimi

Hello, my name is Kaywan Salimi. I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Rabobank in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and a Volunteer Lead within Rabobank's Sustainability Community, a global network of more than 7,000 members.

At Rabobank, I work on systems that help monitor and manage the risk of clients with mortgages and loans. My day-to-day work focuses primarily on .NET and Azure, building and maintaining software that supports critical, data-driven decisions at scale. I enjoy solving complex technical challenges, but I'm equally interested in the human side of engineering: communication, collaboration, and helping people align around a common goal.

Alongside my engineering role, I contribute to sustainability initiatives across the organization by helping organize events, supporting community activities, and connecting colleagues around topics such as sustainability, innovation, and learning. This experience has strengthened my passion for leadership, facilitation, and creating momentum for positive change.

I'm particularly fascinated by how software really works, especially around memory, performance, distributed systems, and system behavior. Understanding the underlying principles behind technology has always been more interesting to me than simply learning frameworks or tools. This curiosity led me to create a YouTube channel, where I share concept-driven explanations designed to help developers build strong mental models and deepen their understanding of software engineering.

Beyond technology, I have a strong interest in psychology, economics, leadership, AI, and societal change. These subjects shape how I think about systems, incentives, decision-making, and the future of organizations. They also influence how I approach engineering: not just as a technical discipline, but as a way to solve meaningful problems and create lasting impact.

Looking ahead, I'm interested in opportunities at the intersection of technology, leadership, AI, sustainability, and organizational transformation, where I can combine engineering expertise with communication, stakeholder alignment, and long-term thinking.
