About me

Kaywansalimi

Hello, my name is Kaywan Salimi. I’m a Senior Software Engineer at Rabobank in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

At Rabobank, I work in a team that builds and maintains systems used to monitor the risk of clients with mortgages and loans. My day‑to‑day work is primarily focused on .NET and Azure, contributing to software that supports critical, data‑driven risk decisions at scale. I collaborate closely with international teams, where correctness, clarity, and long‑term maintainability are essential.

In addition to my engineering role, I’m a volunteer lead in Rabobank’s sustainability community, a global internal network with over 8,000 members worldwide. In this role, I help organize events, support initiatives, and contribute to efforts aimed at making our organization — and our planet — more sustainable.

Alongside my professional work, I spend a lot of time thinking about how software actually works — particularly around memory, performance, and system behavior. This focus led me to start a YouTube channel, where I share clear, concept‑driven explanations to help developers build strong mental models instead of relying on rules or folklore.

Beyond technology, I have a strong interest in psychology, society, and economics. These perspectives influence how I think about systems, incentives, and human behavior, and they shape both my engineering work and how I communicate complex ideas.
